Cement Industry lobbies for lift in export ban and lower VAT

Cement Industry which is facing a surplus situation with commissioning of new capacities is likely to face price pressure. The capacity utilization is likely to drop and the industry has put up demands for lifting the ban on exports to promote greenfield projects. It has also lobbied for reduction in VAT in cement. KCP Ltd plans expansion of Muktyala cement plant

KCP Ltd plans expansion of Muktyala cement plant in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. The project involves expanding clinker capacity from 0.85 mtpa to 1.32 mtpa and cement capacity from 0.9 mtpa to 1.52 mtpa. Its captive mining capacity will also be increased from 1.50 mtpa to 2.0 mtpa (910 acres). The unit will manufacture 90% Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and 10% Pozzolano Portland Cement (PPC). The project will entail an investment of Rs. 3498.3 million.
 

Lafarge India plans integrated cement plant at Karsog Tehsil

Lafarge India plans integrated cement plant at DPF Ghanger in Karsog Tehsil in Mandi district of Madhya Pradesh. The project involves setting up of a cement unit with capacity of 3.0 mtpa, a clinker unit of 2.0 mtpa and captive mining of limestone (3.0 mtpa, 800 ha). The project will entail an investment of Rs.9080 million. Lime stone (3.0 MTPA), gypsum (0.15 MTPA) coal (0.35 MTPA), Steel mill scale (0.155 MTPA), Sandstone (0.155 MTPA) and fly ash (0.90 MTPA) from TPS at Panipat, Bhatinda, Yamunanagar etc. to manufacture Pozzolona Portland Cement will be used as raw material.
 

Grasim Industries plans integrated cement plant at Nawalgarh

Grasim Industries plans integrated cement plant at Basava village in Nawalgarh Tehsil in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan with an investment of Rs. 21000 million. The project involves setting up of a integrated cement plant (5.5 mtpa cement, clinker 4.08 mtpa) and a captive power generation unit of 75 MW ( 3 x 25 MW). The proposed plant will use dry process technology and will involve crushing, blending, grinding and pre-heating before entering the rotary cement kiln for clinker manufacturing. Clinker will be cooled and grand with gypsum to make cement (Portland Pozzolona Cement).
