Bheema Cements, (formerly Coromandel Cements) is planning to invest Rs.5670 million to set up a new plant at its existing facility in Ramapuram, Nalagonda district of AP. The likely capacity of the plant will be 15 lakh tonnes per annum. With this addition, the total capacity of Bheema Cements will 24 million tonnes per annum. The funding for the project will come from bank loans and also from private equity. It may be noted that first phase expansion is likely to be completed by March 2009.
Bheema Cement is expanding its clinker production unit from 0.15 mtpa to 1.60 mtpa and cement from 0.16 mtpa to 2.40 mtpa. It will also set up a captive power plant of 45 MW at Ramapuram village in Mellacheruvu Mandal in Nalagonda district of Andhra Pradesh. The project cost of the existing plant is Rs. 240 million. The cost of expansion of cement plant and installation of 45 MW Power Plant is estimated at Rs. 6800 million and Rs. 2200 million. The requirement of raw materials for expansion will be limestone (2.40 MTPA), Laterite/Iron ore (0.064 MTPA), Flyash (0.68 MTPA), Gypsum (0.12 MTPA) and Coal (0.32 MTPA). Coal requirement for 45 MW power plant will be (0.345 MTPA) and will be met from Singareni Collieries.
