Heidelberg Cement plans expansion of Raigad plant

Heidelberg Cement India is planning to expand its cement production capacity. The project involves increasing the capacity at its Raigad plant in Maharashtra by 6.25 lakh tones per annum. As of June 2010, the project has received the board's approval for the expansion programme. The project also involves increasing its clinker manufacturing capacity from 1.2 to 3.1 million tpa at Narsingarh in Madhya Pradesh and cement grinding capacity from 1 to 2 million tpa at Imlai, also in Madhya Pradesh and raising its cement grinding capacity from 0.8 to 2.7 million tpa at Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. The project is estimated to cost Rs.12,000 million and is scheduled to be completed in 2012.
