Mahabali Cement to set up a 200 tpd cement plant at Modertoli village in Doboka Revnue Circle, Hojai Sub-division, Nagaon District of Assam with an investment of Rs. 78 million. The raw material for the project will be limestone (272 MT/day), clay (34 MT/day), coke breeze/coal (50 MT/day) and gypsum (8 MT/day). The raw material will be sourced from N.C. Hills, Meghalaya, Assam, Bhutan and M. P. The manufacturing technology proposed by the plant is vertical shaft kiln (VSK) process. VSK technology is based on black metal process in which all the raw materials which limestone clay fuel (coke breeze, coal or any low volatile coal) and other corrective materials are introduced in a fineness of 10% returned on 170 mesh and thoroughly homogenized. Raw mill is formed into nodules of 8-10 mm size by addition of water in the pan nodulizer rotating at suitable speed and inclination. These nodules are fed into VSK lined with refractory inside. As material passes down in kiln it is dried heated and burnt into clinker. The clinker is than cooled and discharged from kiln by a rotary grate at bottom of the kiln through a triple air locked device.
